During the month of July, I’ll be participating in Camp NaNoWriMo, where I hope to write and complete my novella, Love Poetry.
Love Poetry synopsis:
Jessica, a lover of poetry, is stuck in a relationship she can’t get out of with a man she doesn’t love. When her best friend, Alex, sets her up on a blind date with a coworker named Bruce, known in the radio world as “The Girlfriend Whisperer,” she desires to pursue the chemistry building between them, but can her current boyfriend, Whitmore, let her go, or, by any means necessary, will he do the unthinkable to ensure that she stays his forever? It’s the ultimate test for Jessica’s love, and the man who wins will wrap it up in a simple love poem, written from the heart.
Love Poetry began in 2014. Birthed from my own personal relationship with an ex-boyfriend, the story grew and took on a life of it’s own. My first attempt at writing it came in November of that year during the NaNoWriMo Challenge. Back then I only made it to just over 5,500 words before giving up, the pressures too great. But I didn’t let the story die with my failure. I brought it back the following year for the April A to Z Challenge, and that’s when I realized I had something special.
Finally, two years later I’m back at it again, with the goal of completing a project that began in 2014. Although I’ll be away from the blog for the whole month, I still have plenty of material to keep you entertained while I’m away. That includes my 2015 A to Z Challenge. All this month I’ll be re-posting the challenge that got this all started. From A to Z, you’ll get to re-experience how this novella took root. While the version I’m currently writing will be much different, take the time to get to know the characters and become familiar with the story.
I’ll see you in August, when I hope to proudly boast about my first completed novella! Until then, enjoy this blast from the past, and feel free to follow my progress on the Camp NaNoWriMo website!
