#MicroMondays: School Guidance Counselor

Lotti silently hands me this week’s progress report:

Language Arts: D-

A note at the bottom of the page:

I doubt she’ll be able to pass the oral portion of my class when she does not speak.

Lotti hasn’t uttered a word since witnessing her mother’s brutal murder, when she learned good and bad do exist.

I fear she’s still learning.

    1. So often adults in that situation don’t know how to respond to a child dealing with grief and trauma. And usually the way they respond is the wrong way. But where there’s one who’s unsympathetic there’s usually one who is.
