Sunday Morning Word: 31 to Be Exact

“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.”
Proverbs 31: 30-31 (NIV)

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers! You are hardworking, strong women of God, like the Proverbs 31 woman, and we honor you today. Today’s poem by Janette…Ikz asks all women to aspire to be like just the woman described in Proverbs 31.

In today’s society, women and girls are bombarded with so many images of what they should be. They have to be skinny. They have to dress a certain way to attract a man. They have to compromise their beliefs and standards to keep that man. They are deceived by this false sense of security that as long as they look, dress, and act a certain way, they’ll always have the love of a man, and thus, will feel complete as a woman.

Don’t believe any of that idiocy. The only man you need in your life is Christ. He is the one who died for you and rose on the third day. He is the one who saved you and washed you clean of your sins. He is the only way to the Father, not some mere earthly man.

The ideal woman fears the Lord. She is a woman of God. She lives by the Word of God and upholds to his standards. By the grace of God, she is wise, faithful, hardworking, dedicated, and a strong leader.

It’s time we stop letting this world teach us and our daughters how to be women. If we seek Christ first, we’ll know exactly who we are, who we need to be, and we won’t want anything else.

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these thing shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).
