When It Rained Honey – English #frapalymo

On  a humid day in July,
honey rained from the sky.

I lay, center of the road,
under the hovering bees,
making honey angels.
I lifted a glazed barefoot
as the honey continued to pour.
A bee landed on my big toe
for a sweet kiss, but a sudden
flick of my ankle whisked it around
to plant its stinger instead.
My toe swelled the size
of a roma tomato

on that awful day in July
when honey rained from the sky.

This poem is written as part of #frapalymo which Bee will be translating into English for us at The Bee Writes…  Today’s prompt comes from @einsilbig:when it rained honey last time and I glazed myself barefoot.”
