Sunday Morning Word: A Lesson on Love

“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends . . . You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”
John 15:12-13; 16 (NIV)

Now that the debauchery that is Valentine’s Day is over, let’s get into some real love, because there is no greater love than what Jesus Christ has shown when he laid down his life to save us. So instead of buying chocolates, roses, sexual creams and toys, and celebrating a commercialized version of “love,” you and your loved one together should focus on bearing good fruit, obeying His commands and remaining in His love, and showing yourselves to be true disciples of Jesus Christ.
